Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs
Home of Heroes is the world’s first sanctuary dedicated to providing retired working dogs, especially demining K9 veterans, with the dignity, care, and love they deserve after a life of courageous service.
Founded in 2017 by Yulia Khouri and inspired by the heroic journey of a demining dog named Muriel, Home of Heroes rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs who once served on the frontlines of landmine detection and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance. These brave souls have saved countless human and animal lives, and now it’s our turn to serve them.

In January 2016, he was transferred to Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia, where he continued his mission in active cluster munition fields until the end of 2020.
Over his distinguished career:
Julex officially retired on April 1, 2024, and arrived at Home of Heroes where he now enjoys the peace and dignity every hero deserves.
X-Box officially retired in 2021, and joined Home of Heroes, where he now enjoys a well-earned life of rest and affection under the care of Founder Yulia Khouri, who became his official guardian in July 2024.
