Home of Heroes is the world’s first sanctuary dedicated to providing retired working dogs, especially demining K9 veterans, with the dignity, care, and love they deserve after a life of courageous service.
Founded in 2017 by Yulia Khouri and inspired by the heroic journey of a demining dog named Muriel, Home of Heroes rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs who once served on the frontlines of landmine detection and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance. These brave souls have saved countless human and animal lives, and now it’s our turn to serve them.

The Guardian of Heroes program is a life-changing opportunity: for both our dogs and the humans who welcome them home.
At Home of Heroes, we provide sanctuary for retired demining dogs, true K9 veterans who spent their lives protecting people from landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO).
Now, through the Guardian of Heroes program, you can help us give these incredible animals the next chapter they deserve: a peaceful, loving life as part of a family.

Lifetime Care
Guardian of Heroes is a foster-based program for specially selected individuals and families who are willing to open their hearts and homes to one of our retired K9 heroes.
For many years, retired demining dogs were euthanized due to lack of resources or care. Home of Heroes, and this program, was created to break that cycle forever.
As a Guardian, you don’t just foster a dog. You become a part of their legacy and healing

Your monthly donation will directly support the food, care, and medical needs of a hero dog in our sanctuary.
