Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs
Home of Heroes is the world’s first sanctuary dedicated to providing retired working dogs, especially demining K9 veterans, with the dignity, care, and love they deserve after a life of courageous service.
Founded in 2017 by Yulia Khouri and inspired by the heroic journey of a demining dog named Muriel, Home of Heroes rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs who once served on the frontlines of landmine detection and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance. These brave souls have saved countless human and animal lives, and now it’s our turn to serve them.

Support a retired hero even from far
Not everyone can foster a retired working dog but everyone can be their hero.
By becoming an Angel Sponsor, you provide direct, ongoing support to a retired demining dog who now lives at the Home of Heroes. Your sponsorship helps cover vital costs like food, veterinary care, daily enrichment, and medication for one of our beloved four-legged veterans.
This is your chance to make a meaningful difference: right from where you are.
These dogs spent years of their lives clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) all around the world, saving countless human lives through their courage and training. But when they age out of service, many are at risk of euthanasia, abandonment, or neglect.
Thanks to the Home of Heroes and kind people like you, that future is no longer their fate.
By sponsoring, you’re giving a second chance to a working dog who gave everything in service to others.
As an Angel Sponsor, you’ll get
Whether it’s $15, $30, or $50+ per month, your donation goes directly to the care of a dog who once risked it all. You can also make a one-time gift to support the collective needs of the sanctuary.
