Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs
Home of Heroes is the world’s first sanctuary dedicated to providing retired working dogs, especially demining K9 veterans, with the dignity, care, and love they deserve after a life of courageous service.
Founded in 2017 by Yulia Khouri and inspired by the heroic journey of a demining dog named Muriel, Home of Heroes rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs who once served on the frontlines of landmine detection and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance. These brave souls have saved countless human and animal lives, and now it’s our turn to serve them.

About Dog
Raven was born on December 27, 2019, in South Africa, and came to Cambodia as a young pup full of energy and promise. She began her training at the Dog Training Center of Animal Mama in Siem Reap, where she was enrolled in the Basic Security and Tracking Dog Program starting in 2020.
Though Raven showed spirit and enthusiasm, her career path shifted early on, and she never entered operational deployment. Instead, she found her place in the world as a cherished resident of Home of Heroes, officially joining the centre on April 5, 2020.
Raven is playful, curious, and endlessly affectionate. She’s the kind of dog who makes every day brighter, always ready to greet you with her sparkling eyes and wagging tail. While she didn’t serve in the field, Raven helped other animals multiple times by donating her blood. She reminds us that heroism isn’t always about duty, it’s also about the joy and connection dogs bring into our lives.
At Home of Heroes, Raven has found what every dog deserves: safety, family, and love.
