Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs

O’Nada was born in 2012, in Bosnia and trained at the Global Training Centre (GTC) before embarking on a distinguished demining career with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA). With his sharp instincts and unwavering focus, O’Nada spent nearly seven years in active service across two countries: Vietnam and Cambodia.
His service began in Vietnam’s Da Lak Province in 2015, where he worked along the Cambodia – Vietnam border conducting survey and clearance of hazardous areas. From 2016 to January 2022, O’Nada operated in Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia, one of the country’s most heavily contaminated cluster munition zones.
Over the course of his incredible career:
O’Nada officially retired in 2022, and arrived at Home of Heroes and later was transferred to the house of his guardian, Yulia Khouri.
Calm, wise, and deeply soulful, O’Nada is one of the elder dogs of Home of Heroes. His quiet presence commands respect, but he’s also incredibly affectionate with those he trusts. Watching him relax or stroll through the garden is a humbling reminder of all he’s given, and all he now deserves.
O’Nada is more than a hero, he’s a legend. His legacy is measured not just in square meters cleared, but in lives protected and futures made possible.
