Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs
Home of Heroes is the world’s first sanctuary dedicated to providing retired working dogs, especially demining K9 veterans, with the dignity, care, and love they deserve after a life of courageous service.
Founded in 2017 by Yulia Khouri and inspired by the heroic journey of a demining dog named Muriel, Home of Heroes rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs who once served on the frontlines of landmine detection and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance. These brave souls have saved countless human and animal lives, and now it’s our turn to serve them.

About Dog
Neo was born in December 2019, in South Africa and brought to Cambodia to begin his training journey. In 2020, he entered the Dog Training Program at Animal Mama Center in Siem Reap, where he underwent basic education as a Security and Tracking Dog.
Though Neo did not enter official field service, his spirit and energy made him a standout student. On April 5, 2020, he became part of the Home of Heroes family, where he has since lived a safe and happy life surrounded by fellow canine heroes.
Neo is playful, alert, and always curious about the world around him. While he never cleared a single landmine, he won countless hearts with his enthusiasm and charm. His story reminds us that every dog, regardless of duty status, deserves love, purpose, and a peaceful retirement.
Now a proud resident of Home of Heroes, Neo enjoys his days in comfort and companionship, a cherished member of a legacy of heroes.
