Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs
Erik was born in 2018, in Cambodia, one of the puppies from the respected NPA detection dog program. He began his training early at the NPA-TC facilities in Siem Reap, where he was groomed to become a Mine Detection Dog.
Although he didn’t graduate into an operational demining role, Erik contributed to the strength and continuity of the program by completing nearly four years of training, helping build up the next generation of hero dogs through demonstration and peer learning.
He retired on January 1, 2023, and moved to Home of Heroes, where he is now under the loving care of a Guardian of HOH. Gentle and playful by nature, Erik is one of those dogs whose loyalty and resilience shine even without a battlefield. He may not have cleared a minefield, but he has certainly cleared the hearts of those who know him.
Every dog deserves a safe and loving home. This page highlights important details about the dog, including their background, personality, and special care requirements.
