Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs

Damra was born on May 19, 2017, in Cambodia as part of the “D-Litter” from the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) breeding program. Like her siblings, she began her early training in the hopes of becoming a Mine Detection Dog.
From August 20 to November 15, 2017, Damra participated in basic puppy training at the NPA Mine Action Center Training Facilities in Siem Reap Province. Though she showed promise, she was eventually donated before full accreditation and never entered operational service.
In 2017 Damra officially joined Home of Heroes and since then stays with us. She later entered the program of Guardian of Heroes under Home of Heroes supervision in February 2023, and stays since then with her guardian, where she continues to live a life filled with affection, security, and calm routine.
Damra is gentle and social, with a kind heart and a playful streak. Though her name never appeared on a clearance record, she has served in her own way: helping animals in need through the blood donation, educational programs about service dogs and bringing companionship and comfort. Damra is reminding us that every dog born into the world of humanitarian work deserves love, regardless of their field status.
At Home of Heroes, every dog has a story, and Damra’s is one of gentle purpose, soft resilience, and lifelong care.
Every dog deserves a safe and loving home. This page highlights important details about the dog, including their background, personality, and special care requirements.
