Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs
Home of Heroes is the world’s first sanctuary dedicated to providing retired working dogs, especially demining K9 veterans, with the dignity, care, and love they deserve after a life of courageous service.
Founded in 2017 by Yulia Khouri and inspired by the heroic journey of a demining dog named Muriel, Home of Heroes rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs who once served on the frontlines of landmine detection and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance. These brave souls have saved countless human and animal lives, and now it’s our turn to serve them.

She helped clear over 615,706 square meters of land, making villages, farms, and forests safe again for families, farmers, and wildlife.
On June 29, 2024, C’snap was welcomed to Home of Heroes, where she began a new chapter: one filled with rest, care, and love.
Despite her years of intense fieldwork, C’snap is nothing but gentle. She is known as a true sweetheart: soft-eyed, calm, and endlessly affectionate. She loves quiet cuddles, slow walks under the trees, and the occasional roll in the grass. Her presence is peaceful and grounding, a reminder of the strength that comes not just from duty, but from love.
C’snap is more than a working dog, she is a living legacy of courage, compassion, and the promise we keep at Home of Heroes: yo honor, protect, and love every dog.
