Home of Heroes: A Sanctuary for Retired Working Dogs
Abby was born in Cambodia in 2016, and even though she is not just a street god, like many street dogs, her life began in danger. In 2019, she was spotted by tourists who appeared just in time, saving her from the dog meat trade. Her journey to safety began at Animal Mama Veterinary Hospital, where she received medical care, affection, and a second chance.
Not only did Abby survive, she began to thrive. With time, she was enrolled in basic obedience training at the Animal Mama Dog Training Center in Siem Reap, where her intelligence and gentle spirit began to shine.
On May 4, 2020, Abby officially joined the Home of Heroes family. Though she never worked in the field, her resilience and transformation represent the quiet strength of survival.
Abby is living proof that not all heroes are born in war. Some are born from mercy, love, and the courage of those who refuse to look away. She is a survivor, a soul restored, and a cherished member of our centre.
